Cracked Barrel, Addams Family Style

Arrived at a rather desolate version of this well known eating establishment while traveling back to Indiana.  The place was rather empty for a   Saturday night.  Most of the employees sitting on the back step were hanging out.  Might have been Uncle Fester’s kin.  An episode of Courage the cowardly dog could have been filmed here.  Why yes something creepy was afoot. Once inside and walking up to the “greeting station” was a family that looked like have been waiting till their  tongues were hanging impatiently staring for someone to let them in.  We joined in behind like the unsuspecting fools we were. Then, appearing out of nowhere was a man the likes of Lurch from the Addams Family, yet a 90 year old version with one foot on deaths door.  No words were spoken, not even “you rang”.  I’ve seen more welcoming faces on a bottle of arsenic.  Slowly he guided us to a table like this was our last meal. What Makes You Happy

Our 5-year-old grandchild was spending the night, and my wife Sherrie asked him: what makes you happy? His answer had to do with monster trucks, dinosaurs, and riding four wheelers. I have a feeling yours and mine would be a bit different. Besides, when I think of dinosaurs I think of Jurassic Park, not a happy place in those movies.  For as long as I can remember back my family loved vacationing at Anna Marie Island. So, if you were to ask me what makes me happy, a day at the beach in Anna Marie would be very close to the top. It no longer requires a two day car ride from Indiana, it's just 45-60 minutes down the road from Sun City Center. If you go, I have a couple of suggestions. First, go early, or go late, but not between 10 am and 3 pm. Much less trouble finding a parking spot, and your favorite place to park your beach chairs.
